AUN-QA Certification Awarded to BIAM Program
BIAM Program was chosen by the top management of the UUM to be flagship and pioneer program od the University to apply for AUN-QA accreditation. There are several reasons why BIAM was chosen :
1. BIAM is one of the earliest undergraduate programs in the field of international affairs in Malaysia, with its unique curriculum combining the discipline of international relations with management.
2. BIAM Program by far has the most number of foreigners among its teaching faculty and students in UUM.
3. UUM is trying to become "The Eminent Management University", and by obtaining the AUN-QA accreditation, BIAM can lead the way for other undergraduate programs in UUM to achieve international standard for quality education.
The initial process of obtaining the AUN-QA accreditation began on October 16, 2011 when Prof. Dr. Rosna Awang Hashim, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UUM announced that the university was willing and strongly to have its undergraduate and postgraduate programs to be evaluated by accreditation local or international bodies, to ensure that these programs to be at par with the best program, nationally and internationally. With series of meetings, workshops and reviews by many parties such as the school itself (School of International Studies (SoIS), the Quality Management Institute (IPQ), external quality assurance expert from Universiti Malaya (UM). Finally, the School of International Studies successfully obtained AUN-QA on the 18th October 2013. With this accreditation, SoIS emerges as the first international affairs programme and among the first group of higher learning institutions being accredited by AUN-QA in Malaysia.
In the post AUN-QA, the School of International Studies (SoIS) has engaged actively in series of programmes with ASEAN counterparts such as student mobility programmes. Most importantly, the School's teaching and learning (T&L) quality is continuously improved in accordance to the AUN-QA requirements.
