Professional & Educational Background

Alisha Ismail holds a Ph.D. in Marketing and Operations from the University of Liverpool, a member of the prestigious Russell Group Universities in the United Kingdom. Her doctoral research focuses on maritime logistics and transportation, particularly in small and medium-sized ports. Currently, Alisha serves as a senior lecturer in the International Business Management department at the School of International Studies (SoIS), Universiti Utara Malaysia. Her academic journey began with a strong dedication to acquiring knowledge in her field. She obtained both her Bachelor's and MSc. degrees in International Business Management from the same university, completing them in 2005 and 2008, respectively. Throughout her career, Alisha has been committed to both research and teaching. She has authored and co-authored several papers and books in the areas of logistics and supply chain management, contributing significantly to these fields. Her work reflects her passion for understanding and improving the efficiency of maritime logistics, particularly within the context of smaller ports.

 

Research Interests & Expertise

Alisha continues to be actively involved in cutting-edge research in logistics and supply chain management, with a particular focus on maritime logistics and port studies. Additionally, she is expanding her research scope to encompass the teaching and learning of International Logistics and Sea Transportation. This new focus aims to identify the best approaches to improve student outcomes in these related courses.
