Professional & Educational Background

Dr. Oyelakin Idris Oyewale is an International Lecturer at the School of International Studies (SoIS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He is currently a fellow at the Asian Institute of International Affairs and Diplomacy (AIIAD) at UUM. Before joining UUM, in 2024, Dr. Idris has served as a teaching assistant at Universiti Teknologi Petronas and as a consultant with BMC Training and Development Sdn Bhd where he developed and implementing various training methods majorly for organization human capital development. He has actively participated as a speaker in various workshops, conferences, and seminars on various research topics, such as green servitization for sustainable performance, circular economy practice for manufacturing firms’ sustainability, halal product for developing economy and many more. This is eminently acknowledged at the 6th IEEE Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention (2023), where he received the best paper award for his scholarly contributions. Dr Idris holds a PhD in Management from the prestigious Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He has actively participated has a member in an international research grant of Murata Science Foundation 2022 research grant awards and has been a recipient of University Teknologi PETRONAS Graduate Assistantship (GA) Award.

Research Interests & Expertise

Dr. Idris current research focuses on promotion of halal products in international business, circular economy, green manufacturing, and sustainability. His work identifies the challenges faced by manufacturing firms towards achieving sustainable performance arising from environmental impact cost on overall profitability. His research has implemented the importance of ISO 14001 in the operation process of Manufacturing firms. As a professional scientific researcher, his main research activities include survey gathering, data assessment, interpretation, and analysis. Dr. Idris also investigates operations and strategic management research by providing solutions to manufacturing firm profitability through green operations among the public listed consumer product manufacturing firm. Recently, his research interests have expanded to include how Malaysia’s SMEs circular economy and Madani iESG practices can improve their International Business Performance.
