Professional & Educational Background

Norafidah Ismail is an Associate Professor at the School of International Studies, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Kedah. Her area of specialization is the International Relations of the Middle East and International Political Economy. Before joining the faculty at University Utara Malaysia in 2002, Dr. Ismail served as a Lecturer at Akademi INFOTECH MARA, Batu Pahat, Johor in Malaysia. She is co-author, with Tim Niblock, of “An intensifying Sino-Saudi relations.” In Shen, S. and Blanchard, J. F. Multidimensional Diplomacy of Contemporary China (Lexington Books, 2010) and has delivered several conference papers on China’s growing involvement in the Gulf. Dr. Ismail earned a B.A. from International Islamic University, Malaysia, an M.A. in International Political Economy from the University of Leeds, and a Ph.D. in Arab and Islamic Studies from University of Exeter, United Kingdom.

Research Interests & Expertise

Her area of specialization is the International Relations of the Middle East and International Political Economy.
